RF house

Los Angeles, California

2021 Luxe RED Contemporary/Modern Architecture Regional Award

RF House is a single family home located on a 27,000 square foot hillside lot at the end of a cul-de-sac.  The house is perched in the Bird Streets of the Hollywood Hills and enjoys stunning views of the city below. A series of interconnected volumes and planes form the seamless indoor/outdoor living spaces that define the residence.

The bedroom wing extends the length of the property providing privacy from the upslope neighbors.  This culminates with the master suite cantilevering over the hillside, extending the view of the city as much as possible. Fourteen-foot tall ceilings enclose the kitchen, dining and living room which open onto an outdoor garden and infinity edge pool. A large interior courtyard and stair connects the main living level with a full basement below, bringing lots of natural light to the lower level.

A warm minimal material palette combined with precise detailing create a luxurious and refined modern home that takes full advantage of the indoor/outdoor living that Los Angeles provides.
